Banora Point High School is in its fourth year in 2007. We will be moving to Stage 6 Years 11 and 12 from 2008. We have nearly 600 students, and expect to reach about 800 students at full capacity.
Our curriculum includes a wide range of electives in Stage 5 Years 9 and 10 leading to the School Certificate. These electives come from the Technology, Creative and Performing Arts, Physical Education and Human Society and its Environment key learning areas. They include dance, drama, music, visual arts, a variety of technology courses, sports science and commerce.
Students in Year 8 are able to choose a taster elective in preparation for Stage 5, as well as complete all the mandatory courses for Stage 4.
Students are encouraged to participate in many opportunities to extend themselves. Extra curricular activities are offered in dance, music, drama, visual arts, PE and sport. Students are able to develop leadership skills through the Student Representative Council. To date, individuals and groups have represented the school in Schools Spectacular, Far North Coast and State Dance festivals, zone and regional sporting competitions, debating and public speaking.
