is one of the longest established schools in Croydon, having been founded over 140 years ago. It has expanded over the years and now caters for around 700 boys and girls, a majority of whom are Catholic. They come from a wide catchment area. St Mary's is situated in the centre of Croydon which makes it very accessible - public transport, buses, trains and the new trams, run close by.
We have a long tradition of upholding those values normally associated with Christian ways and also setting high academic standards, as can be seen from consistently good public examination results. About eighty-five percent of our pupils move on to Further and Higher Education.
As well as the Academic side of school life there is a strong tradition of sport and music at St Mary's which you will see reflected in these pages and which we believe to be extremely important in enriching the life of the school.
Great emphasis is placed on maintaining firm, but fair, discipline, whilst visitors frequently remark on the friendly atmosphere and welcome from both staff and pupils alike.St Mary's is a real family and will suit those who are looking for traditional values, high standards and a caring community.
Education is about creating opportunities for our young people to do the best they can with their lives-to develop lively and inquiring minds in the search for what is good and true.We aim to send out our young people well-prepared to face the challenges of the modern world-economic,personal and spiritual.
