we are achievement focused in all aspects of college life. We are in the top percentile of schools nationally for contextual value-added results. We have a positive ethos with an emphasis on teaching and learning. Our curriculum is wide and varied and provides young people with remarkable opportunities to study, develop their skills and, more importantly, enjoy learning. We offer a wide range of courses. Of course, we offer the traditional academic subjects, but in addition to this we offer vocational and work-related courses that can prepare and equip our students with the knowledge, skills and abilities for their chosen careers.

We have a growing sixth form which in turn offers a pathway to university, apprenticeships or employment/training.

In 2006, 54% of our Students achieved 5+ A*-C in year 11 and we had a 100% pass rate at ‘A' Levels.

Her Majesty's Inspectors in December 2004 confirmed “we are a good and improving school and that the staff were committed and effective, knew the students' strengths well, and built on them. Teaching is excellent, very good and good in a range of subject areas across the college.”

We have a number of initiatives at the college which have helped raise standards of achievement.

As a Specialist College for Sport and Geography we are developing cross curricular links which are motivational for our students and which promote pathways for career opportunities in the Leisure and Tourism Industry.

With a brand new Sports Hall, Fitness Suite and Dance Studio, we will continue to work closely with our community of primary schools, secondary schools and special schools alongside adult and community learning to engage everyone in lifelong learning and an active lifestyle.

We have gained an Artsmark award for our excellence in Art, Dance, Drama and Music, and a Healthy Eating Award.

As a Training School we continue to train graduates from industry, and PGCE students, many of whom we employ.

We work in close collaboration with the City Learning Centre that is on site to give students and adults opportunities through ICT.

We believe in a true partnership between all those involved – teachers, support staff, students, parents, governors and the wider community – to support what we want to achieve: high quality teaching and learning with high expectations in learning and standards of behavior. We want students to be happy in their learning and who can succeed throughout their lives.
