Enabling each child to achieve his or her full academic potential must be our primary goal. When children leave school they will be judged by the excellence of their academic achievement; the measure will be how far they have made the best use of their talents. Smaller classes and an advantageous pupil teacher ratio ensure that at Kingston Grammar School the flicker of talent which we believe is in every child can be nurtured, and whatever their particular talent might be it is our task to discover it and develop it, the emphasis being on the individual.
The school has a fine record of academic achievement, with high pass rates in both GCSE and A level Examinations. Most pupils progress to Higher Education (including ten this year to Oxford or Cambridge Universities) where their well developed habits of independent thought and work give them a firm foundation on which to build. Education, however, is more than just academic results. Width of opportunity is our second goal. We aim to provide a rich mixture of experiences for pupils to develop sporting, musical, dramatic and leadership talents. We urge pupils to combine some extra curricular activity with their academic studies, believing that both are necessary to the development of the complete man or woman.
Two words sum up our goals - excellence and respect. By the pursuit of excellence we mean always aspiring to the best in every sphere of activity. By respect, we mean learning to respect others, respect ourselves (by fulfilling our potential) and respect for our surroundings. We hope that pupils will leave Kingston Grammar School able to adapt their talents in order to meet the needs of an ever changing world, whilst holding fast to the principles of self reliance, a sense of responsibility and a determination to seize opportunity.
