Provides a caring and intellectually demanding environment from which all girls can benefit. Each girl will develop a sense of self-respect, achievement and the ability to function as an independent and self-motivated adult. On leaving, the school hopes that every girl will echo its motto: “Yea, I have a goodly heritage.”
The school is set in most attractive surroundings, comprising three Georgian listed buildings overlooking Parson's Green with purpose built accommodation at the rear. There is also a landscaped garden adding to the atmosphere of calm and purpose. The school prides itself in having close co-operation between home and school and senior staff are freely available to see parents. Each year group has an open evening and reports are sent home annually. A weekly bulletin provides parents with school news of the past week.
The highest standards of behaviour are demanded at all times - there is school uniform from the 7th to the 11th year and full parental co-operation in maintaining the high standards is expected.
The school prides itself on helping all girls to get the best possible results. The GCSE results have been excellent for the last few years and the school has gained some of the best results of all maintained girls' schools in England. Our sixth form has also produced outstanding A-level results.
Lady Margaret is a church school, although not all pupils are practising Anglicans. However, the school hopes that all girls will appreciate its Christian ethos and will contribute towards it. There is a daily formal assembly and the school has its own beautiful chapel.
Lady Margaret is very popular and has been oversubscribed for many years.
